101 Goals in 1001 Days Update

It has been a while since I have updated my progress on my list. You can find my list here.

Since my last update I have accomplished the following:

  • Visited a new country (The Bahamas) which brings me to 2 out of the 4 goal
  • Started recycling at home through the curbside recycle program
  • I went on a cruise last weekend! (The Bahamas)
  • My Skymiles Balance is almost halfway to the 500,000 goal!
  • I am registered for a class that will land me an IT credential (2 year degree!)
This list has really helped me much more than I realized to stay the course and move forward in my life as a whole. I am constantly improving both financially and otherwise. Why didn't I start this 10 years ago?!?

I have another update! I have been busy this month and was able to knock out a few more items on my 101 in 1001 list. It is a great feeling to check things off!

Here is what I have accomplished:

  • Visited a dentist (finally!)
  • PAID OFF ALL CREDIT CARDS! HURRAY!!
  • Learned how to cook 5 new dishes
  • Got a fireproof safe
I am most happy about riding myself of credit card debt. I have a big feeling of relief. Best of all I did it before my month-long vacation in Asia in a few days! I can go to the beach and relax a little easier knowing I don't have those payments hanging over my head. This is a big list but I already feel like I am making real progress in many areas.

It has been a while since I have updated on my progress!

I have not been neglecting my list only neglecting to share an update on it. So far I have completed 7 items on my list and at least as many are in progress. I admit I did get lazy on it for a few weeks but this review is getting me back in line a bit. I have a long way to go still!

Due to a change in financial circumstances I may have to change some of the financial goals but will leave them be for now. I am now going to work on some goals that will take longer time periods to complete since time is flying by!

I am really enjoying doing this list and wonder why I have not found this before now! I am excited to move forward and make big personal gains.

I am officially a part of my homeowner's association!

My neighborhood had it's annual meeting last Wednesday. Roughly 25 owners turned up and it was an informative meeting. The result was I am now the treasurer of the association. I will be handling all of the books and financials for it.

This was one of the items on my 101 goals in 1001 days list that I can now cross off! It will be a lot of work to begin with but will be much more manageable over time. I plan to use my finance and IT background to make things as easy as possible. I will be done with the transition in early May.

It will be nice to see where my HOA dues are going. Being the treasurer means that I get to see and control the flow of money. I also think it will look good on my resume and bode well in job interviews. It is a win-win for me!

Renewed goals and visions

I am overdue for a post on my life goals and progress. Over that past few months I have made a lot of changes to where I want to go and how I want to get there. I am shifting my focus on getting to where I want to be faster. Here is what I have done so far:

  • Started my 101 goals in 1001 days list
  • More intense focus on debt pay down and emergency fund building
  • Increased efforts to get more contacting side work
  • Revamped my budget due to a work pay cut
  • Spending my free time more wisely than before
Starting the "101 list" has really got me focused on getting a lot of things done. Having the pay cut at work was a small wake-up call to get my finances in better shape as fast as I can. I am now eating at home a lot more and being more money conscious when I go out. I also try to start every day with at least 1 small goal that I want to achieve that helps out my "big picture" in the long run.

Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the small things and lose sight of what you really want in life. It is never easy to stay focused all the time but having this blog, my 101 list, and the correct mindset I find I am able to get more done in less time and feel like I am gaining ground. A little sense of achievement goes a long way in life!

Quick 101 goals in 1001 days update

It has been a week since I have started my list. I keep it in the back of my mind a chisel away at it when I get a block of free time. I have already crossed a couple of things off! Here they are:

  • Increased my 401(k) contribution to 5%
  • Went to Alice in Chains concert
  • Started automatic monthly savings transfer
  • Working on: Retirement Timeline
  • Working on: Cross Country US road trip (May)
As always you can see my list here. I update is regularly with my current progress.

I feel pretty good about knocking 3 things off the list on only 1 week's time. Even though they are small items they are still important. Having the list keeps me focused and gives me a good sense of direction. It's going to be a fun ride!

I finally completed my list and am done tweaking it. I had a difficult time coming up with all 101 goals but I think they are all good. I have published my list and it is accessible from the permanent link at the top of the page!

I will post regular updates of my progress, most likely monthly, as I work through it. I will also update the list page with completed items and progress of my money and number based items. I will be posting on the business day closest to the 20th of each month.

I am excited to get started! It should be a fun, tough, and interesting journey to get through it all. I start on Monday, March 1 2010 and end on Monday, November 26 2012. Wish me luck!

101 goals in 1001 days list almost complete!

I lack 1 item to complete my list. Once done I will review the entire list, make adjustments, and start it on March 1, 2010. My finish date is November 26, 2012. I have some very lofty goals in it that I hope to reach!

I will publish the list in it's final form on March 1st. It took me a lot longer than I thought to come up with all the goals and I admit I took some from other people's lists. I found some goals that hadn't crossed my mind until I read them so it was a good exercise in self evaluation.

Just by creating this list I have learned some things about myself and where I need to improve. It is also pushing me to do stuff outside my "norm" and get ahead in life. I will give regular updates to my progress as I go along!
